Old Hope is the studio name under which local artist Darren Pilcher sets about realising an ’unspoken local vernacular’ of Romney and the Weald. Using woodblock printing and wax stencils he strives to share his view of the local landscape. “Historically most of my home turf was submerged – the Weald was coastal. I think a lot of the forgotten who have drifted out and the foreign who have floated in.
