The culmination of a year of work in 2024 was just launched.
Dawn Dublin from Black Butterfly and Hattons Yard conceptualised the project as a community designed artwork for the community centre.
Children from the local area attended workshops help during Coastal Currents to design concepts for the sculpture guided by Leigh and artist Rebecca Child.
From these concepts Leigh then created metal replications that were joined together to create a butterfly inspired gate.
This gate solves access problems as well as creates a wonderful entrance to the community centre, allowing the public to know the centre is there and a key part of the community.
This is a community co-created project for which the local kids can take ownership and become beloved.
