7 September – 9am – 5.30pm
8 September – 10am – 4.00pm

Commoning the Programme One is developed with young people from Hastings, who have commissioned a new work by a local artist for this festival. The work is about the future of Hastings, 2024 – 2124 and what it means to be alive, past, future present. The young programmers have been guided by prominent local organisations including Project Art Works and Trans Pride Hastings.

“With the Observer building celebrating its centenary, I have chosen lines from 50 children & 50 pensioners. The responses will be: a mix of the heartfelt, whimsical, pure, poignant, joyous, uplifting, mad and beautiful. Visitors will be immersed in the 50 pairings, with the single word common to two sentences, locking them in place, a maze of memory and dreams. Favoured pairings will be visualised with sculptures, visualising the unions of dream and recollection.” Mark Lawson Bell

This is a collaboration with OBX at Hastings Commons, part funded by Arts Council England. For further details and opening times please visit:
