LOUISE ASHCROFT – Unlucky Dip

LOUISE ASHCROFT – Unlucky Dip
Southeastern Trains between Hastings and St Leonards
Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 September

Performance artist Louise Ashcroft transforms the coastal train between Hastings and St Leonards into a seascape
of sounds and spoken word, as she roams the carriages with a large suitcase of interactive props and instruments, immersing travellers in sonic narratives based on classic marine-themed monster movies like Creature from the Haunted Sea and The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Why do the seas and oceans have such enduring power as catalysts for tales of myth and menace?

Louise Ashcroft has exhibited at The Government Art Collection, Latitude Festival, Arebyte, AVU Prague, TEDx Hackney, Turner Contemporary, Modern Art Oxford and comedy festival The Boring Conference. She studied at Oxford University, Birkbeck and The Royal College of Art and was recently in residence at Tate Modern and Camden Arts Centre. Louise makes live performances, videos

and installations reflecting upon cultural behaviours and traditions.
