Marina Studios is an informal resource centre for artists in St Leonards. It offers individual studio spaces, an open studio space suitable for Photography and other creative uses including dance and drawing as well as an etching press, a screen printing press and a kiln. There are regular life drawing groups at the studios.
Robin Holtom, trained at the Royal College of Art and was elected associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. His recent work includes brightly coloured oil paintings of nudes, dancers and landscapes in Sussex, Wales and Italy. His figurative sculptures are in bronze and plaster.
Frances Kingsnorth studied Ceramics at Bath Academy of Art. “Pure Energies” Hand built ceramic sculptures inspired by life forces’.
Joan Roche studied at the Royal Academy Schools Piccadilly. Current work engaged with the spiral structures of shells and the broader connotation of repetition within nature and architecture. An ongoing experimentation with oil pigment techniques onto canvas surface forms the process of this engagement.
Marina Studios are located in a Regency building designed by James Burton and occupy the second floor and the basement. The studios are opposite Azur on the sea front and are accessible from the back of the building. Enquiries about using the facilities to Robin Holtom on 07853 765218
