Eight hand picked Hastings film makers collaborate on this new project shot around the town on original Super 8 film using this year’s Coastal Currents theme as the starting point. The familiar will seem strange, seen through the eyes of Kate Adams, Nichola Bruce, Mark French, Richard Heslop, Andrew Kötting, Rebecca Marshall, Sam Sharples and Nick Pilton.

This is the first time these local film makers have collaborated together on a single project, each contributing one chapter on a single roll of Super 8 film.

Hastings Film Makers are an informal alliance associated with the Electric Palace cinema. Director Mark French has showcased new work by this group culminating in last year’s film festival. Since then the cinema with the support of founder and film maker Rebecca Marshall, has hosted regular screenings and recently a night of new short films. The group are all well known in their own right, producing full length feature films as well as more experimental work. At the same time they retain an awareness and appreciation of each other’s output which draws on the well-spring of creativity that is Hastings.
