Please check back nearer the time as weekend opening times may have to change.

‘Stade’ is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning ‘landing place’. Fishermen have worked from Hastings Stade for over a thousand years. Through these fishermen’s portraits, in partnership with Hastings Fishermen’s Protection Society, Oliver continues to explore social groups and challenge stereotypes. Depicted alone, stripped of any contextual props, against a flat background, his subjects demand that the viewer complete the narrative and question their preconceived ideas.
