Dance for the Camera

Screendance Workshops by Marina Tsartsara
Sun 9 Sept, 11am – 3pm
Stade Hall, Old Town, Hastings

This cross-disciplinary workshop is aiming to open the boundaries between physical expression, visual arts and site specific performance.
We will focus on the visual aesthetics/framing of the body in movement, on how to create performance/body movementactions for the camera, and how to think choreographically in terms of shooting and video editing.

Some of the subjects to be explored during the workshop will be:
• Choreography for the camera
• Choreography of the camera
• Choreography on location-site specific choreography
• Contextual analysis – examples of other artists’ work

The workshop is open to everybody, encouraging collaboration and creative learning. No previous experience is necessary.

Participants are asked to bring their own equipment if possible, if not there will be sharing of the existing equipment.
Equipment needed: A video camera – quality of image is not important.

Participants can bring any prop, costume or text that they would like to include in the process of making.
